The first Hundred Years
1904 - 1950


 This history has been compiled using Club records, newspaper articles and information

gathered from the archives at the Mount Gambier library. I wish to thank The Border Watch for their press clippings and photographs I also want to thank members who have given me

photographs to copy and others who gave me valuable information.

The first Hundred Years
1950 - 1980


In 1946 The Club created a full time greenkeeper position, applications were called and Mr. P. Pepper , who had been the greenkeeper part time was contracted to fill the position.

With the increasing membership the club decided to prepare a third green and in 1947 the new green was prepared and sown.

It was ready for play in 1948.  

The first Hundred Years
1980 - 2004

In 1981 the Mount Gambier bowls Club was presented with The Bi-Centennial Award for the running of the Softwood Holdings Invitation fours.

This was the Bi Centennial of the first white settlement in Australia and Lance Bruhn was president.

Also on November 5th to 8th 1981 three Test Matches were held at the two clubs Victoria v South Australia, won by Victoria.
